Success: A Blizzard Entertainment Timeline

Why is World of Warcraft so successful?

Raptr, a social media networking tool for gamers has clocked 4,070,029 play hours in their database at  an average of 35,000 players daily. These numbers are staggering when viewed in the realization that 35 thousand players (just in Raptr alone) have clocked 4 million hours of game time.

Now if we could see Blizzard’s database numbers for all 5 years the game has been out, multiply that by all the average 14.99 monthly subscription numbers and then the ‘additional’ services they offer at a highly over priced… Read >>

Our 2009 Game Awards: Presenting The 1st Annual Golden Noobs!

In the same vein as every ceremony that awards a trophy to an actor or musician we bring you ITG’s 1st annual game awards: The Golden Noob Awards! The Golden Noob is a virtual trophy awarded by ITG staff every year as a way to bestow praise (or disdain) upon the games that have crossed our paths in the year that was. Getting a Golden Noob trophy is an honor (or disgrace, depending on why it is awarded) to receive because we are all gamers as well as writers.

Without further delay, here are the ITG… Read >>

World of Warcraft: Icecrown Preview Video Shows Story, Mad Video Production Skills

Here we have a preview video of the upcoming Icecrown citadel dungeons coming soon in patch 3.3 for Blizzard’s World of Warcraft. It seems that Blizzard is taking a cue from the likes of BioWare and bringing more story into the game, something that can only improve WoW and prolong its already crushing dominance on the MMO market in my opinion. I haven’t played WoW regularly in months, and watching this video got me pumped up for the new patch.  And its not even an official video.

The video below is player made by a member… Read >>

Nostalgia Or Addiction? Signs it’s time to quit your current MMO

There seems to be a #trending topic in the last few days here in the blogosphere in regard to MMO gaming nostalgia, with recent posts like this one from from Syp at Bio Break, then from Game by Night, and Kill Ten Rats even having chimed in on this topic. I realize that most of the discussion is about looking back at a previously played game with fondness for the good times we had, yet also realizing the displeasure leading to why we moved on.  However, I wonder where addiction… Read >>

World of Warcraft: My Fire specced Mage

Before you get your hate-inspired Nerd Rage on and spam the comment section with “nOOb” “lul l2p” or w/e form of nerd rage vernacular you might care to use, just hear me out. I know and understand that frost spec is the most commonly used spec,   and also the most widely accepted spec for PvP.  I want to talk about fire and the insane amount of pwnage that goes on with this spec after level 50. I know 50 levels of sucking hard and dieing a lot because you keep missing your target even though its… Read >>

Nerd Rage: How Do You Cope With It?

Nerd Rage. What is it? Where did it come from?

If you’ve been playing games online, weather it’s Xbox live, Ps3 network, or an MMO, you have undoubtedly come across it.  Urban dictionary simple states it as:

Nerd Rage: When a nerd (as implied) video gamer gets extremely angry and starts yelling after losing or experiencing the tiniest disturbances.
Prominent in competitive online mmos, nerd raging was made famous in world of warcraft with “Serennia“, often considered the greatest nerd rager to date and “Mahiko” who is known to throw funny yet childish

Cataclysm to Destroy More Than Old Azeroth

Blizzard is going to blow away more than Old Azeroth when they release Cataclysm. What we used to call “spoiler” sites will have to deal with the change in data and completely restart their data collection efforts. Is this an opportunity or a pain for them?

This morning while going through my daily morning activities I started to think about WoW herb and metal farming to support tradeskilling.  For those of you who don’t know me;  I usually get into the crafting or trades at least a little bit, sometimes deeply.  To support these tradeskills, many… Read >>
