Many of us have noticed that Steam recently released a new beta client, complete with all kinds of cool new UI improvements and other assorted bells and whistles. Dismiss one play style or the other at your own peril. There is a reason that games like Call of Duty have single player campaigns, and World of Warcraft has battlegrounds. Both styles of game play provide a good mix of experiences for the player, and draw a wider range of gamers to a given title. Its 3:30 in the morning and I’m in ITG’s dashboard drafting up Torchlight: Ready the Torches!, when I get a tell from a Steam friend. He reminds me that I first told him about Killing Floor about 6 months ago when it was first released by Tripwire Interactive in May of 2009. Now he is at a friends house who has the game, watched them play it for a bit, and then right when he got home he logged into steam and purchased it.
