Battle.net: New Bnet Integration Shown In StarCraft II UI, World of Warcraft Implications Pondered (Video)
Feb 18th
I’ve never been a big fan of RTS games, primarily because I don’t multi-task well and managing all those units and construction and such is usually a bit too much for me. Throw in competitive play and I’m bound to have one sad losing experience after another. I guess that explains why my first foray into Blizzard’s games was with World of Warcraft, and it’s RTS style titles. Regardless, I’m throwing that all to the wind and giving StarCraft II a nice long look when it comes out.
Closed beta recently began for SC2, and a… Read >>
Allods Online: At The Right Place In The Right Time
Feb 18th
There has been allod alot of buzz about Allods Online recently. The game just launched after several weeks of closed and then open beta, and the game has plenty of promise. Many will put the game in the “WoW clone” category, and others will defend it’s twist on the proven themepark mmo formula.
This is not a review of the game per se, but so far my opinion is that it is solid and worth giving a shot. There is great value in the game, especially since it is free to download and play… Read >>
Because We Demand It: 10 Things Our Online Games Should Have
Jan 26th
1. PVP and PVE balance
Dismiss one play style or the other at your own peril. There is a reason that games like Call of Duty have single player campaigns, and World of Warcraft has battlegrounds. Both styles of game play provide a good mix of experiences for the player, and draw a wider range of gamers to a given title. Having both in an online game seems just about mandatory for today’s games.
Success: A Blizzard Entertainment Timeline

Why is World of Warcraft so successful?
Raptr, a social media networking tool for gamers has clocked 4,070,029 play hours in their database at an average of 35,000 players daily. These numbers are staggering when viewed in the realization that 35 thousand players (just in Raptr alone) have clocked 4 million hours of game time.
Now if we could see Blizzard’s database numbers for all 5 years the game has been out, multiply that by all the average 14.99 monthly subscription numbers and then the ‘additional’ services they offer at a highly over priced… Read >>
Eye Candy, Anticipation And Games: Why Cinematic Intros Should Go Away
Jan 20th
As gamers we’ve all experienced the anticipation of a new game that we are really looking forward to playing. With that anticipation, we usually devour all the information we can get about a title. When a game company releases a cinematic intro for our anticipated game, we drool over how awesome the game will be based on how well the cinematic was done. Great cinematics for many games have been released, and I can tell you not one of them gives the average player a decent idea of what the actual game play is like. Game cinematics… Read >>
World of Warcraft: But It Doesn’t Have…Nevermind.
Dec 23rd
I’ve written many times about how I’ve been simply amazed by World of Warcraft. The game’s almost unbelievable subscriber base, the way it has expanded and popularized MMO gaming, and especially the way it continues to be a relevant game 5 years later are all topics that blow me away any time I think about them. World of Warcraft is the Shaquille O’Neal of gaming; an unbelievable specimen that dominated its competition and still demands your attention even in it’s old age. Yet it is far from perfect; for years new games have been able to release… Read >>

World of Warcraft: Account “Hacking” out of Control

Last night, I logged in to my WoW account, got a request to join my guild for a raid, then sat there for 10 minutes. Eventually, the guild’s second in command came on the Vent to apologize for the delay, then explained to us that the guild leader (who has like 5 level 80’s) got hacked and that all of his gear and everything from the guild bank was gone. One of the guys in Casualties of War (which is where all my other characters are) also got hacked a while back, and just got his account back… Read >>
